Swami arose from the ashes of the New York City powerpop band Cosma Suma. The NYC band's electrifying stage shows and big audience draw earned them a July residency at The C-note: Plus a vote as one of the top bands of "Summer 2001". Crowd favorites such as Serenade and Who's better than you, recently secured stand-out pick status in Modmusic's indie band search contest.

What can you say about Swami?

E-music magazine Bandwidth raved: "Swami is a mix of punk, alternative, pop, and a lot of balls"(Summer 2001 issue).

NYrock.com praised the group's version of the Go-Go's Our Lips Are Sealed as a "way cool cover" (Street beat section). So cool in fact that the aforementioned track is regularly requested and has received airplay on New York State's biggest alternative radio station WLIR (Tri-state sound show, Mondays at midnight).

Swami is currently recording their second album with the working title "Swami vs. Swami" containing 9 new tracks, which will be ready for an Fall release. Swami is Mike L. (Lead Vocals), Damian (Bass), Sean (Guitar), Mike Y. (Keyboards), and Mike F. (Drums). Swami's live shows are currently taking the Manhattan downtown music scene by storm.
